My daughter wrote this poem last year after her school said they wanted a them to write something around a word – any word of their choice. I received a letter in November asking for permission to have it published in Express Yourself Through Poetry. To say I am proud of her is the understatement of the century, millennia, aeon.
Revolution
I haven’t come up with a solution,
It’s just so hard to find.
I will start a revolution,
It will stay on my mind.
I try my best to stay awake,
I don’t want to go to sleep.
I wish today could stay,
That way, I can be me.
This solution is just too hard to find,
I haven’t had any sleep.
Now I can’t get it out of my mind,
It is now so easy to see,
This revolution is not for me.

Wow….How old is she? This is excellent! Really grabs you
She was 13 at the time, 14 now. I think it’s one of the best pieces she has ever done, and she has written some good ones.
I’m looking forward to reading more from her, she seems pretty talented….
Oh my goodness!!! This is so awesome! I can see why they wanted it in a book!!! What natural raw talent with the gift of knowing exactly how to express everything, beginning, middle, and end. I am so very in awe of one so young to produce such profound thought in me (I think poetry should do that). I can only imagine how very proud you are of her….and rightfully so!!!!
Thank you so very much for sharing this with us! I agree with previous posters that she should have a blog. I plan to do that with my younger two, have a private blog with trusted friends access only. What a great way to express ones feelings. Just awesome!!

Thank you. When I received the letter, I was stunned. She hadn’t even told me she had written this poem. Then for the school to submit it was brilliant. Out of about 3,000 pupils, only about ten poems were sent off to this. Maybe pride is one of the seven deadly sins, but my kids fill me with so much of it
That is one of the truly fantastic amazing brilliant moments of being a parent. To watch your kids flourish….so so happy for her and for her proud daddy!!

I showed a particular video on YouTube and watched her face. And just saw the tears start to roll down her cheeks. Sometimes it is good to see kids cry when something has moved them
Mondrak, this is really good. She is really good. Thru an original blending of words, much like a pentameter, she emotes and describes her feelings perfectly. The things she did correctly: (if i were on a review board lol) She properly used, as a reference point, the specifc word she picked. Made her words express her feelings about the assignment and the usage of the word. Carried the reader thru the begin, middle and end of her thoughts on the subject, and of course it rhymed beautiful! A+, or another way to put this, your daughter has a serious gift with words. Way to go Farrah!
