Revolution – a poem by daughter

My daughter wrote this poem last year after her school said they wanted a them to write something around a word – any word of their choice. I received a letter in November asking for permission to have it published in Express Yourself Through Poetry. To say I am proud of her is the understatement of the century, millennia, aeon.

Revolution

I haven’t come up with a solution,
It’s just so hard to find.
I will start a revolution,
It will stay on my mind.

I try my best to stay awake,
I don’t want to go to sleep.
I wish today could stay,
That way, I can be me.

This solution is just too hard to find,
I haven’t had any sleep.
Now I can’t get it out of my mind,
It is now so easy to see,
This revolution is not for me.

  1. Wonderful poem! Keep them coming!

  2. Mondrak, this is amazing. Your daughter is so talented. I am happy for you. Wish we could read more of her words!

  3. Wow….How old is she? This is excellent! Really grabs you

  4. Oh my goodness!!! This is so awesome! I can see why they wanted it in a book!!! What natural raw talent with the gift of knowing exactly how to express everything, beginning, middle, and end. I am so very in awe of one so young to produce such profound thought in me (I think poetry should do that). I can only imagine how very proud you are of her….and rightfully so!!!! :D

Thank you so very much for sharing this with us! I agree with previous posters that she should have a blog. I plan to do that with my younger two, have a private blog with trusted friends access only. What a great way to express ones feelings. Just awesome!! :D Hugs ~

  5. Mondrak, this is really good. She is really good. Thru an original blending of words, much like a pentameter, she emotes and describes her feelings perfectly. The things she did correctly: (if i were on a review board lol) She properly used, as a reference point, the specifc word she picked. Made her words express her feelings about the assignment and the usage of the word. Carried the reader thru the begin, middle and end of her thoughts on the subject, and of course it rhymed beautiful! A+, or another way to put this, your daughter has a serious gift with words. Way to go Farrah! :) Penny

  6. Wow….what such talent out of someone so young!! I’m sure you are very proud of her.
And I agree about having her start her own blog or her own book of poetry. Hope she continues to keep on writing. Everyone deserves to read her beautiful poetry! :)

  7. you should be very proud… she will be writing and singing her own songs before long! Thank you for sharing this special piece (of you)

  8. Has your daughter thought of starting her own poetry blog?
Or – maybe just her own book of poetry. Maybe you can get her a journal if she doesn’t have one already – one for her to keep her writings on.

Any thoughts? You wanna share?
