Lonely …

He stands in a room, talking. Lonely
Friends see him happy, bright, joking

He talks, he laughs, he plays. Lonely
His family sees him happy, talks to him

He sits at home with his dogs. Lonely
His dogs adore him, love him, idolize him

He looks in the mirror into the sad eyes. Lonely
The reflection stares back saying nothing, ignoring

He lays in bed with the covers and pillows. Lonely
The covers hug and the pillows soften trying to ease.

He wakes in the morning finding the pillow wet. Lonely
The birds chirp, the sun’s rays come in trying to please

He walks through the town skirting around people. Lonely
The people see him and forget him instantly, not even a memory

He sits in the café and asks for his usual. Lonely
He is served and lies to their questions about his day and his week

He goes back home and sits in his small room. Lonely
Watching TV, snuggling his dogs and wanting someone to know him, love him.

He goes back to bed looking at the empty side. Lonely
Knowing some things will never change … lonely

  1. I like the new look, too! I’m in awe of creative people who can write in such a way that it touches people; I think we can all relate to loneliness at some point in our lives yet not everybody’s able to translate thoughts into words like you are xox
