I do apologise about this. It is my first attempt using music, poetry and a photo all in one post.
The track was released in 2001, and comes from this Dutch Symphonic metal band’s second studio album. It is the track that they normally end all of their concerts with. The exception being the 2011 Unforgiving Tour. The lyrics of the song take their inspiration from nature, as do the majority of the songs from that album.
Crunching through the snow
It feels odd, but nice
Until, the wrong way they go
And find it’s full of ice
Seeing pets: dogs and cats
Looking forlorn, shaking paws
looking at their owners, wearing hats
Wishing they were home, indoors
The dogs start to pull and tug on their leads
They’ve had enough, no longer wanting to roam
They’ve had their walk, done their deeds
Now the only place they want to go is home
The owners turn round, will there be redemption?
It’s a matter that will yet be seen
For now though, listen to Within Temptation
And their cold track – Ice Queen

Sensory overload here results in those vibing little twitches running up the spine. Much effort on your behalf pays off in spades. Well done.
Thank you … I think
Absolutely love it, Alastair! You met the challenge extremely well
Thank you. I was worried about how it was going to gel together
I love it, Alastair! Way to stretch your wings creatively, and I got a good laugh from: “do their deeds”.
Here is something: I click the gold stars to say: top notch, and it won’t go beyond the 4.5 star thingee…I don’t know why…
Someone clicked 4 stars, so it will never get to the full five stars. Oh well, can’t please everybody. One of my photo posts, I got one star from somebody. Never mind. Thank you though
Hey Alastair!! *waving* hope your having a great day! Loved Ice Queen.
Night from Oz….Hugs Paula xx
Hey Paula. Hope your day has been good. Ice Queen is on my iPhone. WT is one of my favourite bands.
Good night.
I had never heard of ice queen before great! You are a triple threat!
LOL Thanks Jasmine
I think you did great Alistair…it all flowed together
Thanks Jo
I think it’s very cool how you combined them all together….well done!!
Thank you Christina. I wasn’t sure how it was going to come out. Making up the poem to match the photo and the song was very difficult. Thank you for your visit my friend.
I think it’s a great idea – you’ve done well…
Thank you Dianne
A very nice first attempt Alastair.
Thanks LuAnn
Not sure how often I can do them though
I would be a tough challenge for me trying to pull all of it together but you did it nicely!:)
I had difficulty putting the poem together. Sadly, I got the inspiration from a rat that had frozen to death.
Yeah poor little boojer
I think it’s a wonderful idea to merge everything into one cool post.
Tanks Rynna
You are invited…http://myownheart.me/2013/01/21/have-a-cup-with/
Thank you Len
I think the amalgamation idea is a success. It’s nice to have them all together where there’s a common theme.
Thanks David. Not sure how often I can do that though
Great poem
Thanks Roxi
Nice combination Alastair ~ loved your poem– got our first snow here today too so perfect timing ~ x RL
Fantastic
Snow here has shut most of the schools today and some tomorrow as well
Cool! I like the depth of the three working together!
Thank you. I had no idea how it was going to turn out,
I thought it was really fun! What a cool idea!
Thank you. It was Penny’s idea. With the vote being so high, I thought I’d give it a go and let other people know what it is that I’m referring to
I think it is very nice.
Thanks Meme
Beautiful… I loved them all, this should be inspiration of your post. Thank you dear Alastair, why you apologize
Love, nia
It’s the first time I have done something like this and had no idea how it was going to turn out. Sitting here making up a poem to lead into the song was actually quite difficult (as it shows haha) But, maybe future ones will be better
