Weekly Travel Theme: Animals

Where’s My Backpack has a new photo challenge this week – Animals.

This was the first time I attempted to take a photo of any type of animal other than pets or kids. This was through my rear window and with a CyberShot camera.

  1. Excellent capture. I read the comments about the movie “The Birds”, did you know it was loosely adapted from a story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. Many people don’t know, but she loved to write not just gothic but also horror type stuff! πŸ™‚

  2. That’s a great shot of it, although I think the eye is what makes it look creepy. I kind of wish I only knew about pigeons outside an urban setting. I just think of them as dirty now, but they really are beautiful.

  4. I too think animals are difficult to capture through the lens. I love the contrasting grays. Lovely photo Alastair. Happy weekend πŸ™‚

  5. I think the most appealing thing, to me, about photography, like the written word, is getting to see the world and all it’s wonders through the eyes of the photographer’s photos (or the writer’s words)….wonderful!!!! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Christina. Comparing my photos to written word, knowing how good your poetry is the ultimate of praise in my eyes. Thank you so very much πŸ™‚

    • I was lucky. I was in the hallway just outside my flat door so it didn’t see me. They are getting a lot braver now though. I was walking past a pair of pigeons a couple of days ago – when my photo of the day was the ducks – and these two pigeons were on a wall. I could have grabbed one without even stretching my arm out.
