Photo of the Week: Week 3

I took this photo early in the week. I was feeding the gulls and throwing the bread up to them for them to catch as they were going past. I noticed several people over the road pointing and watching what I was doing. After a while, the birds would hover in the one place, enabling me to take photos of them. I love the way this one is looking at me expectantly. He (or she) was the next one to catch some of the bread.

  1. Stunning. I tried to catch a Blue Jay in my tree the other day, but even with blowing it up –
it was just a blurry blue spot. Same with some Red Cardinals – Maybe I should toss them some bread? πŸ™‚

    Great shot!

    • Thanks Jules. This was one of about thirty photos, and the only one that was clear.

Throwing them bread allows them to slow down so you can get a clearer shot. Don’t forget to put on VR (Vibration Reduction) on your lens if it has it.

      • On a digital camera? That’s all I’ve got –
Now don’t go saying it isn’t a real camera.
I’ve taken some nice shots with it. πŸ™‚

I think it will be a while though before I do throw bread, my birdies know I talk to them, but they are still skittish.

        • If it can take pictures, it is a real camera. Even if it is a pin hole camera, it is still a real camera.

It was my DSLR. I only use digital cameras. Using the older film cameras is what I wanted to do when I was a kid, but my parents never had the money to help
