iTunes 11.1.14 Fix

Apple have created a new update for iTunes. Only problem is, they have made it incompatible with older versions. I have been unable to link my iPhone to it since then, and I have wanted to load my new Within Temptation album, Hydra so that I can listen to it with my headphones. After searching the internet, I found what could well have been a fix, so I tried it and … hey presto – It works.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel Add Remove Programs (Win XP) Programs and Features (later)
  2. Remove in the following order … MUST BE IN THIS ORDER
  3. iTunes
  4. Apple Software Update
  5. Apple Mobile Device Support
  6. Bonjour
  7. Apple Application Support
  8. Reboot computer
  9. Install iTunes by right clicking and Run as Administrator

Should you get the error iTunes.exe – Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes

or on a non-64bit machine

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files\iTunes

  1. I absolutely hate it when things DON’T WORK. Makes me weak in the knees to attempt all these fixes. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So far I haven’t had this problem, but I sure do appreciate knowing this if I do, all I have to do is come here to your blog to fix it! Thanks Al. And thanks for alerting my readers, as well!!

  2. I have not had this problem but I will try tomorrow. I completely agree with purchasing music so the musicians profit. I do not think I have had an issue. I refuse to upload the OS7 update and so far I am not having problems. (except that I spilled water on my keyboard about 5 minutes ago…..)

    • I have been fuming for over a week not being able to add things to my iPhone. Now I finally can again. Woohoo 😉 It works too be cause I did it

      • I do not have an iPhone. I like my android because it is a little more user friendly for me. I DO, however, have in iPad and and iTouch iPod so I am familiar with the Apple operating system. I back everything up twice OUTSIDE of iTunes before I do any updates because I am terrified I will lose everything. It is so proprietary and I do not like that about Apple. But overall I like my iPad better than my hubby’s android notebook. I think what I need is ANOTHER piece of technology….geez! :-/
