Proof That We Are Really Insignificant

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook, and when I looked at it, I was stunned. These images come from The Meta Picture

  1. The Hubble has taken some magnificent pictures over time. I am always amazed at what is out there…… the images are breath taking and over whelming for me! I can’t begin to fathom the Universe 🙂

  2. This is truly mind blowing. I wonder if this is similar to what a grain of sand feels after it’s gotten somewhat used to the beach that it’s on, and then another grain of sand tells it that there are tons of beaches out there.

  3. A I agree I could get those in these images. There is program called google sky and it maps out all the galaxies. ONce you get into one that leads to another like to infinity! One could get lost I think in these images. I believe. When I focus on them I can’t see to stop wanting to see more! 🙂

    • It is. And apparently Ganymede has just been mapped as well. Not that the Sat-Nav would work there any better than it works on earth 😉

  4. That is absolutely mind blowing. Space is amazing and wondrous and frightening and it is a relief to know I don’t have to be the centre of everything, it gets a bit galling to be honest.

Roll on new physics theories and more sci fi shows for the canvass of space certainly needs filling up.

    • Haha I love that 😀

When do we tell Newton he was wrong? I think we definitely need a transwarp megaportation shifting shover as soon as possible. I wonder if they are going to keep teaching kids physics when they obviously know what they are teaching them is wrong?

      • Doesn’t that apply to a lot more of the curriculum anyway? Teachers have a tough job with all the crap that they have to put up with.

Newton must be spinning in his grave…which he probably plotted out how to do before he died…he was clever like that!

        • It was that plonk on the head by the pear that did it. Yes, teachers do have a tough job now. Tougher than when I was at school, but then they used the cane and the ruler to keep us in check. I only ever had the ruler once, and once a teacher grabbed me by the hair and yanked a clump of it out.

          • Kids had respect, each year there seems to be a more feral element creeping in. I never know how there are a lack of jobs when a percentage of the kids coming through didn’t bother to learn. You’d think it would free up the job market for the one’s that need it.
