It Is During Our Darkest Hour That We Must Focus On The Light ~ Aristotle Onassis

I have seen a lot of things in the last 46 years.
I have done a lot of things in the last 46 years.
I have regretted a lot of things in the last 46 years.
I have been embarrassed by a lot of things in the last 46 years.

However, each of these things has made me who I am today. All of those encounters, all of those memories, all of those mistakes have formed the basis of the past 46 years, So if you have done something that you are not proud of, if you have done something that you regret, if you have done something that has made you happy, each one of these has made you who you are today and who you will be tomorrow, who you will be next week, who you will be next year.

Everything in our past becomes us
everything in our present shapes us
everything in our future defines us

  1. …and then you get over 50 and it still feels the same, still embarrassed by things, still regret things, and seen and done even more. Mind you I do think we do get wiser every year!

    • Glad to see nothing changes then πŸ˜‰ Those situations do teach us, so we definitely get a bit wiser each time (or that’s the theory)

  2. Oh so true. It’s too bad that most of us realize this later in life. And… I have found that person to be totally honest with. It is amazing and scary to share every thought with him. It only took a broken marriage of 35 years and a new love at 56 years young. Thanks, Al!

  3. Thank you Al, I actually did something yesterday that I wasn’t proud of, but today, I believe it made me a better person. Thanks for the wise words, it made my day! πŸ™‚

  4. You don’t realize how important this post was for me to read this morning, just know that it really hit me today. Especially your words in the beginning.

Thank you for being you, Al.

  5. Al, your words always lift and inspire! It is wonderful to welcome them to begin my day! You are like a getting a shot of vitamin C, this morning….your words energize me my brother! Thanks for the wonderful beginning!

    • Thank you very much for those encouraging words Wendell. I am so glad that you find them inspiring and that they help you like that. Thank you
