Friday Fictioneers: Mistaken Identity

Every week, Rochelle hosts a Photo Fiction challenge to make a story up of around 100 words from the photo provided. If you want to have a go, head over to her blog here, or see what others have written here.

If you want to know where this story fits in, then head either here for the shortcut, or select FICTION >> FRIDAY FICTIONEERS: AL and JULES to go via the long way.

Mistaken Identity

Raynard stood solidly in the rising elevator, holding a body by the collar. He smiled, knowing that very soon, another of Saskia’s helpers would die by his hand.

Stepping off at the fifth floor, and finding the correct apartment, he held the body facing away from the peephole and knocked on the door.

Who is it?”

Detective Rush

As the door opened, Raynard dropped the body, grabbed Crannson and threw him against the wall with all of his strength, hearing multiple bones smash at the same time. Then he tore the head from the neck. He swore as he realised this was not his intended target. Crannson had escaped.

  1. Yikes! All those bones crunching and the head snapping got me totally hyped and ten bummer-it turned out to be the wrong guy!Great tension in here Al and loved the action(& the gore-Raynard sure knows how to get physical;-) )

  2. Well now… I’m late to the party, but can’t wait to catch up. Good action, description; had me intrigued even though I didn’t know the background story. Amazed that you fashion together a full story around the prompts. Can’t wait to read more. :>

    • He is, one thing about leaping great distance though, he tends to escape quickly. Mind you, if they find his finger prints, they may be confused at where they appear 😉

    • He nearly got staked a few episodes ago, but Tess was there and forced to save him. I reckon it’s close to thirty or forty now, if not more

    • Thanks Shandra. No, he tends to leave a lot of bodies in his wake. Three times he has nearly been taken down and just managed to escape with his unlife.

  3. Woopsie. Look before you leap. Then again, I don’t suppose Raynard will cry over the mistaken death. He’s rather callous that way. Happy to know another one gave him the slip, though.

    • Thank you Judah 🙂 Yeah, Crannson may have got away, but the poor other guy had no reason to be worried. Everyone is forgetting the scruff bloke as well. I suppose because he was already dead at the start of the part 🙂

  4. Al, such aggression from you, very confronting and the disappointment of getting the wrong guy, not much consolation for the guy missing his head. Maybe he was short sighted? Engaging though….well done.
