Photo of the Week – Week 14

I took this photo on the last day that the ducks were on the river. They are all gone now due to pollution. There is something going on further up and it turns the river white like milk. There are no ducks, moorhens, coots, gulls or anything in there now. It also appears that the Environment Agency are doing nothing about it. So, farewell beautiful birds.

    • Thank you Nia. I hope you are well. I hope to get round to your blog in the next couple of days and catch up with everything I have missed over the last couple of weeks,

    • The local news are involved. We are hoping that it can be dealt with as quick as possible so the birds can come back.

  1. What an absolutely beautiful photograph! I love the contrast of the landed duck and the landing duck with its remarkable reflection. Brilliant photographer at work here! πŸ™‚

  2. Very sad to hear about the pollution . Investigation definitely needed, would have thought someone would be onto it by now .
Lovely duck reflection there Alastair !

  3. A beautiful shot but a sad environmental disaster. Have you written to your local paper about the pollution causing the birds to leave (or The London Times)? You have a unique perspective because you have photographed the birds for so many years.

    • The local paper is on the boards on Facebook that we have been talking about it on. You’re right, I have the photos of how the waters have changed over the week. I had another look today and I miss them birds.

  4. What a great image you have captured Al. Is the pollution new to this area? I find it terribly troubling that nothing seems to be done about environmental issues that affect us all.

    • Thanks very much David πŸ™‚ I was lucky. I think it would have been better if I caught it a second before with both of them coming in to land

  5. Sorry about that because pollution ducks were forced to leave.

Very beautiful image. I really like how you captured the ducks!
I hope you have a quiet evening and a superb weekend, Alastair! πŸ™‚

  6. I’m so sorry to hear this about your river…such a terrible loss to all the community. The photo is a beautiful tribute to these lovely ducks.

    • Thanks Maryann. Yeah, on one of the Facebook pages I am on, they are trying to find out what is causing it, and they found a vehicle in the river by an old mill
