Friday Fictioneers: Salvage And Reclamation

Every week, Rochelle shares another photo that she has been given for us to use as a prompt in writing a piece of fiction in about 100 words. If you want to have a go, take a look here, If you want to see what others have written, then click on the blue creature.

Salvage & Reclamation

«100 words»

On the boat, Raquel waited for her husband, Cameron as he investigated the wreckage of the Tudor ship. He assured her they would live very comfortably on the salvage he retrieved.  She stood looking over the side and thinking how she would gloat to her friends about the money they acquired, when the rope pulled, indicating Cameron needed pulling up.

After ninety seconds, he stood on the deck with Raquel screaming at him for bringing nothing up. “But I did bring something up” he admitted. He pulled his diving helmet off, and Raquel’s sudden scream ended abruptly with a gurgle.

    • Well, in the 30 words that ended up on the cutting room floor, he took the helmet off and his face was that of a squid or an octopus 🙂

    • Thank you Patricia 🙂 I had to reduce the word count by quite a bit which removed even more of a twist that I had on there LOL

  1. Ha, you got me, Al. I thought Raynard was going to be involved in this somehow and was just speculating whether a diving helmet lined with stakes could somehow be forced onto his head to kill him. 🙂
