Have you ever had something so painful done to you that the only thing you can do is to lay down and cry so hard that you can’t breathe? You have no idea how you are going to cope, how you are even going to survive. You are a broken shell of what you were like when you woke up that morning. You cry so much that your eyes run dry and you can’t make a sound anymore. I know this has happened to you, because it has happened to me. You end up thinking there is only one way to stop the pain.
That’s not true. The pain will stop. There will be a hole, there will always be that hole. Time will act like sandpaper and it will smooth down the edges of that hole, it will put barriers up around it. You will still look down that hole and the pain will come to greet you, but the smoothness will stop it getting a grip. The barriers will stop it getting to you. This is when your new chapter starts. It can be something simple like a random person talking to you; picking up a book in a bookstore; flicking to a page and reading a couple of lines. It could be someone smiling at you. These are all things that can start your new beginning. Because something ends, it doesn’t mean that nothing good will ever happen to you again. It just means THAT good thing has come to a close in your life, and it is getting ready for a new one.
Look forward. If you spend your time looking behind at what was, you will miss what can be.
Have a great week.
