New Beginnings Are Often Disguised As Painful Endings ~ Lao Tzu

Have you ever had something so painful done to you that the only thing you can do is to lay down and cry so hard that you can’t breathe? You have no idea how you are going to cope, how you are even going to survive. You are a broken shell of what you were like when you woke up that morning. You cry so much that your eyes run dry and you can’t make a sound anymore. I know this has happened to you, because it has happened to me. You end up thinking there is only one way to stop the pain.

That’s not true. The pain will stop. There will be a hole, there will always be that hole. Time will act like sandpaper and it will smooth down the edges of that hole, it will put barriers up around it. You will still look down that hole and the pain will come to greet you, but the smoothness will stop it getting a grip. The barriers will stop it getting to you. This is when your new chapter starts. It can be something simple like a random person talking to you; picking up a book in a bookstore; flicking to a page and reading a couple of lines. It could be someone smiling at you. These are all things that can start your new beginning. Because something ends, it doesn’t mean that nothing good will ever happen to you again. It just means THAT good thing has come to a close in your life, and it is getting ready for a new one.

Look forward. If you spend your time looking behind at what was, you will miss what can be.

Have a great week.

    • Thank you 🙂 I have added it to my list and that should be in on Saturday. I will link to your blog and your PInterest. I do like that one.

  1. My best friend is going through hell right now…..and it is nothing she has done or can change. It just is what it is, but she will be on the other side of it soon. I sent her the one “Once in a while…” I hope it will give her the same encouragement it gives me 🙂

    • Thank you, I hope it does, and I hope she comes out of her hell as soon as she can. As Churchill said though “When you are going through Hell, don’t stop, keep going” If you stop, it builds up, if you carry on going then at least you closer to the other end with each step

      • That’s a great saying also…..will have to write it down. She will keep going…it is what she does. Unfortunately she has two people who are close to her, dying at the same time and then there is other crap on top of that! I told her she will be able to leap tall buildings and deflect bullets when it is all over 🙂 She is one of the strongest people I know……

          • Nah….she has her weaknesses. I know them. But she (and I) are of the same cloth. You keep going when things need to be done and you (we) put yourself last. Then when it’s all done, you crash. Which is what she is going to do. I (and others who love her) will be there when she does……..because that’s what friends do 🙂

    • I agree. Those at the pages I mention have created some of these themselves. They have a gift for putting these things into words

  2. Very inspiring…thank heavens for sandpaper … thank you so much for a lovely and loving post. Have a great week Al!

  3. Your wonderful blog has both inspired and blessed me, thank you so much!!! The sandpaper is most definitely working away my pain and the sun is coming out once more 🙂

Have a wonderful day and keep up the beautiful work 🙂

  4. That is how it goes, we always get back up and continue, life goes on… and the future looks bright. Need to believe it and in ourselves! Miracles do happen.
    Thanks for the great quotes!

    • Thank you Ute. I have seen a couple of miracles myself. Although I am awaiting another at the moment. One that I doubt will ever happen. I’m glad you liked them

  5. I love these A. Everyone of these and you are so right just keep moving forward. I love your analogy, it is like the process a pearl goes through to become opalescent. Look how lovely it turns out. I love every single one of these quotes they are wonderful and encouraging as you always are. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Hugs and love to you. I’m having my coffee now. 😀
