Be Brave. Even If You Are not, Pretend To Be. No One Can Tell The Difference

Sometimes the bravest people are the most scared. That is what bravery is. It is standing there in the face of adversity when all you want to do is to run away and hide somewhere. Bravery is continuing to smile when you only want to cry. Bravery is stepping outside when you only want to curl up in your sanctuary. Bravery is standing there with a strong posture when your knees are ready to give out. Bravery is saying “no”.

Be brave. Take that step. Each following one will be easier until you are running and free. You can do it. I have faith in you. Have faith in yourself.

  2. All great quotes, but I think in particular “It really is ok for there to be times when…do what’s best for you”, as I think too often we place ourselves last and wonder why we feel so empty. Thanks Al. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

      • I remember the first time I told someone that I felt selfish thinking of myself first and his reply was that if you don’t feed yourself first you will not have the energy to feed others. I always remember that, although I still have to work on not feeling guilty.

  3. How does that saying go? “Fake it til you make it!” Sometimes….just the act of being brave (even when we don’t feel it) will MAKE us brave! I know this….

  4. I have worn my brave mask several times when all along my innards were falling apart (by sadness, fear, anxiety, nerves…)
It can get heavy sometimes though. Glad that I don’t have too many of those days though.

    • I know what you mean. There have been times that the mask has not been enough for me, and it cracked or even broke. I know there is only so much the human mind and body can take before it cracks and breaks, but I have managed to stand up afterwards. I am proof that when you fall to your knees it is how you are when you stand up again. When I was knocked down, I stood up and said “Is that it?? Is that ll you got?”
