If You Give Up You Are Saying “I Won’t”

When faced with a challenge, we have a choice – we try, and if we fail, we can say “I tried”. If we give up, we are saying “I won’t”. Isn’t it better to finish with saying “at least I tried” than saying “oh well, I wasn’t going to succeed anyway”. Who is to say you wouldn’t?

If you are sure you will fail and try anyway, you may get lucky and succeed. Or at the very least, you may find that you get something, maybe not what you want, but something, a consolation, and you will be secure in the knowledge that you tried your best. I will always stand by the quote “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” as opposed to “If at first you don’t succeed, it was never meant to be”. Just because something didn’t work the first time, does not mean it won’t work the second, the third or the fourth. Try. Attempt. Give it a go. You never know what will happen or where it will go, where it will lead. The possibility of success, the possibility of triumph is 100% more than giving up.

I hope you have a good week.

  1. I like the one about every day may not be good but there is something good in every day. I try to see that when I get up each morning. Good post!

        • It’s one we never think of. The same as “You are in a dark room, and all you have are a lantern, a match and a candle. Which do you light first?” The answer that many people don’t think about is “the match”, something we take for granted.
