Every time we do something, it has an effect. It doesn’t matter what we do, it affects something, someone, some way, some how, some time. Drop a pebble in water and the ripples expand all the way to the shores, even the ones you don’t see, the ones that appear to vanish, they are undercurrents that touch edges without anything else knowing. When we are nice to someone, that someone knows it, but the ripples are felt beyond that. Ripples can go on for an eternity. Remember you are a ripple, and you are a stone. You cause the ripples, and you become the ripples.

I like this. I tried explaining it to a friend last year who didn’t believe we really had any impact on the world or the universe. I should have used the ripple analogy 🙂
Each link makes a chain.
Very much so. One link breaks, and the chain is no more
Thank you, Carole. At times I imagine we are all afraid we are dropping words and images into the middle of a vast lake and that we are not reaching anyone, affecting anything.. I never thought about the effect under water. This was both thought-provoking and encouraging. So, in a way I’ve never used the following phrase, rock on.
I’m delighted I’ve brought this to your attention by reblogging, and ‘thepensmight’ has encouraged you. I guess we all feel like that sometimes, especially when we start blogging and receive no feedback. We just have to keep plugging away. Our posts may be noticed and affecting others without us knowing.
I really like that one from Bill Nye (the Science Guy).
I think that one is perfect. It is so true.
Isn’t it awesome??? I love learning something new from people I meet! 😀
I do. The amount of things I have learned just on this blog. Then when you hear things when you are out and about as well.
These are especially poignant to me today…. the first one goes along with a blog I just read! A beautiful young lady told her story over on Stories That Must Not Die about being in an abusive relationship, coming out of it and learning to love herself. It was awesome! I am totally in love with that blog. I found it through Sheena-Not a Punk Rocker. I am putting together a post to put on there. Just haven’t decided if I am going to do it as me or Anonymous. If I put my name on it, I will reblog it on my page.
And I always…ALWAYS try to learn something new from the people I meet! 🙂
That’s one that so many people need to learn. So many people do. Although it is difficult as you start to believe what other people are saying about you, so you need to rethink yourself, you need to relearn yourself, you need to re-see yourself.
I looked in the mirror this morning and I saw myself differently.
I had a look at Stories Must Die, and that was such a sad story. So moving, and then she says at the end how happy she is now. I have been reading Sheena’s posts for a long time. She is one of the few (as is yours) that I will read on a weekend.
I once rippled myself right out of the bath tub… HA!
That’s not a ripple, that’s a tsunami hehe
oh… whoops…
Or was it a home made jacuzzi?
HA!
so agreed 🙂 yes indeed 🙂

a splendid one to ya this fine day! Keep on Keepon on! Q 🙂
Thanks very much Q.
Very good choices Al! I really like that last quote.
Thanks LuAnn. I love that one as well.
I loved this. It is nice to be a part of good things
It always is, even if those things are unseen.
There was a woman who mugged an old man in a town about 40 miles from here. He took some money out of the ATM and she took the money – about £165 ($200) and ran. He screamed for help, and some people heard. She was chased by not one, not two, not three, but forty people. She was caught and pinned to a fence until the police turned up. Most of the people involved want to remain anonymous.
Wow, how beautiful. So many don’t want to get involved for various reasons, but we need to when the need arises. We or I hope that by helping others when my turn comes that I need help, I will receive it
Karma – what goes around comes around. You do good by others, you get good back. Ripples.

It wasn’t posted on your comment, so you wouldn’t have had a notification for it
