Monday’s Finish The Story: Grandpa’s Secret

In its fourth week now, Monday’s Finish the Story is a photo prompt which has the first line that you carry on from. It is a great new challenge and fun. Go have a go.

Little did we know that Grandpa was a collector.

Little did we know grandpa was a collector. We thought we knew him, but it turns out we knew nothing. After he died, my brother and I decided to clear house. We found so many old cars parked in the garage, but something seemed odd. The doors to all the old cars were locked, and the keys were in a bowl so it took about four hours to fit the correct key with the corresponding vehicle with seventeen cars, six trucks and fifty-two keys.

The shock when we opened them up, it made me feel ill. It caused me to think completely differently about him. I always thought he was a nice man, but this. THIS! We weren’t sure whether to tell someone or keep his secret so he would remain the same in the eyes of his family. We decided to keep his secret and burned the place; along with his shrine to Jar-Jar Binks.

  1. Great take-off on the photo and great surprise ending. Left me scratching my head as to what could POSSIBLY be inside those vehicles that could be a “shrine” to JJB. (Perhaps the bones of everything that he snatched with that tongue?)

  2. Jar-Jar Binks was in the movies for comedic effect?? I thought it was to annoy the heck out of us. Great ending Alastair, just great πŸ˜€
Aaargh! Now I’m not going to be able to get THAT voice out of my head.

  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you for including the “thing that must not be named” shrine in the fire. That makes up for any transgressions associated with your family’s because of your grandfather. ❀

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ He is a character who was added to the Star Wars saga for comedic effect, but ended up being hated by almost every Star Wars fan
