Friday Fictioneers – Deadly Diner

Every week Rochelle offers up a donated photo for us to use as a prompt in writing a story within the confines of 100 words. Not as easy as it sounds, but it gets you to look at how to shorten sentences and using one word instead of two.

If you want to have a go, then click on the image and if you want to read what others have written, then click on the blue image with the frog beneath it.

Trev walked into the diner with trepidation. He knew the kind of place this was. He ordered his coffee and sniffed it for a hint of poison. There was no almond scent, so he took a taste, and finding it to his liking, he ordered a meal.

Looking around the room, he saw the man scowling in the corner looking around, fiddling with something in his pocket. A knife maybe? A gun? He swallowed hard and finished his food.

Walking out afterward, he looks straight at you, the reader, and says, “Well that was odd. No one died. Merry Christmas”
