Time …

Time through our eyes
Is fleeting in its pace
Yet seems to take forever
When watching a timepiece face

TIme 1

Hours seem like minutes
Yet minutes can seem like hours
Why can’t we know the Doctor
With all his time-travel powers

Time 4

Time and tide, they wait for no man
No woman, and no child
They seem to mesh together
Driving many of us wild

Time 2

The girl becomes a teen
Her life becomes her story
As her own grandchildren succeed
Showering themselves in glory

Time 3

Our achievements have defined us
In our life which is only lent
Some of our fame will be posthumous
As our days and hours are spent

Time 5

Then the end of life’s upon us
As we expire all our time
With hope, we’ve had a good one
As to the pearly gates, we climb

Fly By

I read the latest post by my friend, Penny at The Why About This, and it created a stir in my mental juices as to what the world is currently facing. I had an image of a bird in my mind. So this poem was inspired by “When Words Overwhelm

Fly by night
Fly by free
Fly by flower
Fly by tree

BirdFlyNight

Fly by day
Fly by sun
Fly by many
Fly by none

BirdFlyDay

Fly by star
Fly by moon
Fly by sand
Fly by dune

BirdFLyMoon

Fly by summer
Fly by glow
Fly by winter
Fly by snow

BirdFlySnow

Fly by country
Fly by state
Fly by anger
Fly by hate

BirdFlyCountry

Fly by sirens
Fly by flash
Fly by fallout
Fly by ash

BirdFlyHate

Fly by death
Fly by strife
Fly by everywhere
Looking for life …

Forbidden Lovers

Unique in their difference
Disparate in their likeness
Legions moved, carried by wing
Opposed to the wingless, walking below

1

The walking, armed with spear and stone
The flying, with rocks of fire
Ready to send the other home
To rest atop a funeral pyre

The war they fought, never ending
How it started, neither knew
Both sides tarried, never bending
Never remembering why they slew

11

As is the normal in a war
Something remarkable oft takes place
As killing the other becomes a chore
Slaughtering, never seeing the face

9

Until one time, a life depended
A woman’s life begins to fade
The man who finds her, hate rescinded
He finds her ‘midst a bloodied glade

8

Back to health, he heals her wounds
She looks into his soulful eyes
Her heart starts singing loving tunes
She steals a kiss, then off she flies

17

Now he tries to end the war
Saying they fight for no good reason
They say they’ve heard it all before
And sentence him to death for Treason

She tells her lords to think things over
Asks if they remember why they die
Her questions make them sit up, sober
They see the love inside her eye

5

A truce is called before the others
They soon find out silence is golden
And now they see forbidden lovers
And to them, their lives beholden

A senseless war cost millions of lives
Fought with sticks and bombs and spears and guns
The deaths of many husbands, wives
Brothers, sisters, daughters sons.

16

And so a peace reigns through the land
With grateful children, fathers, mothers.
As two walk out, hand in hand
The war was stopped by forbidden lovers.

Optimus Amicus

She sees me when I think I am invisible
Knows where I am when I am lost
She makes me smile when I forgot how
Knows what it takes to make me laugh

SoulMate2

She says what I need to hear
Using words I never knew existed
She lifts me up when I am down
Using energies of her own to help

SoulMate3

She makes me think I am special
Telling me how I am unique
She pulls me out of my hidden place
Telling me it is not as fearful as I think

SoulMate1

She talks to me for hours upon hours
Writes when we cannot speak
She makes up words to make me feel better
Writes them so I can say them back

SoulMate4

She is the one person I can always confide in
I can tell her anything that’s on my mind
She listens to me and then makes me laugh
She is my Optimus Amicus, my soul mate, my friend.

****

Too often people associate a soul mate with a wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, lover. This is not always the case. Someone who is a friend can be a soul mate. It is two people whose souls have touched and intertwined.

I have known people whose family members are their soul mates, or others who are friends that have never met, but talk to each other a great deal and know so much about each other because their souls connected. It can be friends with people who are married to someone else. Just because someone is a soul mate doesn’t mean there is love/lust situation. It transcends love. Becomes something more.

No amount of arguments or upset can keep soul mates apart. When you have found yours, feel blessed. Some people can go a lifetime with never finding who their one is, or meeting them and not stopping to get to know each other.

Maybe that moment of “love at first sight” is not that, but more souls connecting across a room and interlocking into place.
